About Us

Vision

We are Ateneo alumni scholars working together to be the leading scholarship benefactor of the Ateneo de Manila University as our way of making available to others the gift of Ateneo education that we have received.

Mission

We are a home for scholars helping scholars, we create opportunities for student and alumni scholars to come together as a community, reach the highest number of alumni through our established call center, and regularly raise the largest possible amount of donations for the Ateneo College Scholarship Program.

Objectives

1. To reach all alumni scholars of the Ateneo de Manila University to form a community
2. To collect donations regularly from at least 10% of all alumni scholars, enabling us to raise at least Php20M in scholarships, including endowments, per year
3. To mentor our current scholars and work with other groups inside and outside the Loyola Schools in supporting all LS Scholars

Values

We value sustained generosity, inspired by gratitude, and unwavering hope for a better future.

History

The Scholars-for-Scholars Scholarship Fund (SSSF) was established in August 1987 under the umbrella of the Ateneo Scholarship Foundation through the initiative of Fr. William H. Kreutz, S.J., who was then Director of the Office of Admission and Aid in the College Department of the Ateneo de Manila University.

Fr. Kreutz invited alumni scholars on one occasion to present to them a clear and concrete way of sharing the gift they once were blessed with. As the idea was to call on the generosity of alumni scholars, who at that time were already well-placed in various private and government institutions, a scholarship fund was created — from alumni scholars for future scholars. Thus, it was named Scholars for Scholars Scholarship Fund.

In 2002, for better representation of the men and women behind the group, the organization was officially known as the Ateneo Alumni Scholars Association (AASA). An alumnus/alumna scholar of the Ateneo de Manila University automatically becomes a member of the AASA even if his/her scholarship came from sources other than the AASA.

Volunteer alumni scholars steer the group as members of the Board of Directors (BOD). The BOD sets the goals and direction of the group at the start of the year. Meetings are held at least once a month to carry out these plans. The goal of the AASA is not just to raise funds for scholarships but also to provide occasions for the gathering of alumni scholars and present scholars, and to provide assistance, when appropriate, to any member of the association.
