Nestled within the vibrant campus of Ateneo de Manila University lies the Areté Art Gallery, a hidden gem that beckons visitors into a world of artistic wonder and inspiration. Recently, the Mentorship Committee of the Ateneo Alumni Scholars Association (AASA) organized a special activity for freshmen to junior college AASA scholars to explore the Areté Art Gallery. The scholars embarked on a journey through the gallery, guided by their curiosity and guided by the expertise of their mentors.
As they meandered through the gallery’s halls, the scholars were captivated by the diverse collection of artworks on display. From striking contemporary pieces that challenged conventional notions of beauty to timeless classics that celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines, each exhibit offered a unique and thought-provoking experience. However, one particular exhibit stole the spotlight – MARK JUSTINIANI’S “VOID OF SPECTACLES.” The scholars were mesmerized by the immersive installation, which invited them to contemplate the nature of perception and reality in a thought-provoking manner.
Amidst laughter and animated discussions, the scholars had a fun and enriching experience exploring the Arete Art Gallery while conversing with their assigned mentors. The activity not only deepened their appreciation for art but also fostered camaraderie and intellectual curiosity among the AASA community. As they departed from the gallery, inspired and enlightened, the scholars carried with them memories of a truly unforgettable experience.
